Two things ultimately pushed me over the personal finance obsession ledge: entertaining money blogs, and awesome podcasts.
I typically drive a lot for work, so I try to maximize what would be wasted time by listening to the many great personal finance podcasts available. This helps me hone my craft and perfect my finances in the push towards early financial independence (FI).
I have listed the top 5 podcasts that I listen to as soon as a new episode is posted. These people have awesome shows that highlight personal finance, increasing income, and retiring early (or at least doing what you love).
Read through to the end to find a few “bonus” podcasts that aren’t finance related, but are worth a listen.
And now, without further ado,
The Top 5 Epic Personal Finance Podcasts:
(1) The Money Show.
J. Money and Paula Pant deliver the epic Money Show Podcast! I believe this is the newest podcast on the list, but it has quickly become one of my favorites. Paula provides a confident perspective on the real estate side of investing, while J. Money has a natural bent towards the index-fund-only investing approach.
The Money Show has hosted some pretty great guests and the often humorous discussions always provide a ton of actionable money advice. Perhaps the biggest draw to this podcast is the feeling of authenticity both hosts provide from their unique life experiences.

(2) Financial Independence Podcast.
The Mad Fientist hosts this awesome podcast that (you guessed it) focuses on achieving Financial Independence. This podcast has been around for around 4 years now, and The Mad Fientist puts out great (albeit infrequent) content.
The Financial Independence Podcast also interviews big finance personalities while dovetailing into the pursuit of financial independence. In fact, The Mad Fientist himself recently achieved early FI.
(3) The Side Hustle Show
While not strictly a personal finance podcast, The Side Hustle Show highlights the important role of side hustle(ing?) in the financial independence movement. If you are looking for great content, with hundreds of episodes dedicated to the making of side-money (both passive and active), then check The Side Hustle Show out!
Host Nick Loper interviews some amazing guests, from remote real estate flippers to stay-at-home moms who make thousands blogging about smoothies. With such a wide array of interesting content, this podcast is a must for anyone who wants advice from these side hustle success stories.

(4) Stacking Benjamins
Merging a refreshing lack of political correctness with real-world personal finance stories makes Stacking Benjamins a very entertaining podcast.
This group of podcasters keep most discussions at a comprehensible level for the non-finance trained listeners, and they often have great guests!

(5) The Smart Passive Income Podcast
Pat Flynn has hosted The Smart Passive Income Podcast for quite a while now, and as you’ve likely guessed, he focuses on building passive income. His motto is “working hard now so that you can sit back and reap the benefits later.” These passive income stories always provide motivation for my own side hustles as well as many actionable tips to help passive income streams succeed.

StartUp Podcast
I am fascinated with the Start Up world. The idea that someone could go from a great idea to a multi-million dollar company in a short amount of time is awesome! Check out Season 1 of the StartUp Podcast to get an inside look at how an idea goes from the initial pitch through a successful seed round of funding. (The production quality is amazing!)

Stuff You Should Know
This podcast has been my must-listen-to podcast since I started listening to podcasts many years ago.
Co-hosts Josh and Chuck spend an entire episode discussing their research into a unique topic such as; How Bonsai Works, How Snake Handlers Work, What Makes Lead So Poisonous, etc.

I listen to Marketplace and Radical Personal Finance as well. Listening to M.O.N.E.Y. pushed me into blogging. I love what they put out there.
