Welcome to The Drunk Millionaire – a blog dedicated to uncovering the lost art of working hard and making sensible decisions to achieve wealth, fulfillment, and the pursuit of financial independence.
The renowned cultural sociologist and President of the United States Teddy Roosevelt said, “Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. The joy and moral stimulation of work must no longer be forgotten in the mad chase of evanescent profits.”
Most millennials, men and women aged 19 to 34, have no idea how to manage money and feel hopeless when it comes to ever really building wealth. Like Teddy said above, we have forgotten how to value work and appreciate financial literacy. Unfortunately, many had parents that modeled the “living paycheck to paycheck” lifestyle. This upbringing has left the millennial generation feeling adrift without the confidence that comes with common sense financial wisdom.
Today, Millennials have become slaves to advertising, materialism, and debt. We have substituted the adage “live on less than you make” for the false flag of instant gratification.
So why are you called The Drunk Millionaire?
Put simply, you could be completely drunk and still be able to retire as a millionaire if you alter your money mindset. Thus, The Drunk Millionaire was born, seeking to fill the knowledge void of financial literacy among Millennials. We seek to change the public perception of debt and create a community of Millennials who buck the societal trends of dependency in favor of achieving financial success. We believe that with financial success, our colleagues in this endeavor will experience true freedom that grants the capacity to impact the world for the better. We enjoy the occasional brew from time to time as well!
If you’re tired of normal, join us and poor yourself a cold one. Let’s change the world together.
